Nigerian rapper, M-Trill blows hot, say; we need more media or PR activities in the South

Award winning Nigerian rapper, Teria Yarhere popularly known as M-Trill has taken his time to advised artistes on the important of having solid PR machinery working for them.

M-Trill blows hot, said; 'we do not have respect for the media or PR' in the South

Below is what he posted on social media:

"In the south, we do not have respect for the media or PR, we do not appreciate what it is or what's the use. This is in part what is affecting our creative (and i dare to say political) industry. We think that words do not hurt us or that perception does not matter. We are usually satisfied with the status quo.

Our big bros Yibo would always say, no be say Rivers Boy no get fine shoe, infact him get plenty, but nobody know. Duncan has been great from day 1 but only getting recent media coverage now because of his association with the top 2 African acts, these guys have a solid PR machinery working for them, they have people on their payroll that are dedicated to controlling whatever narrative is out there about them. Now, he's been thrown into the blender without understanding the spin.

PR is like surfing, the waves will come, you just need a board and skill to balance it till you get to a calm place without falling off....without which you will/may fall off and some even get drowned.
Maybe because I've seen PR work at it's finest. Years ago when the baby mama drama started popping up for music acts. A popular act (with the biggest song of that year) was having his own drama privately but this is what happened. A reporter got hold of a damning story and called the popular act's PR manager and said, chief, i have a story that I've confirmed to be true. Your artiste has given a few girls "belle" and we are going to publish it, I'm calling you as a way of courtesy. End of call. This news if and when published would portray artiste as the same ol' un-serious and irresponsible acts which also meant SOME of the top brands that were looking to endorse act with large sums will pull out once it hits the news stands.

PR kicked in, they placated the reporter with the story to hold on, while they went to work.

They called artiste in and did a quick retrace. They got act to marry one of the babes pregnant and few weeks down the line, they spun the act as the most responsible guy ever. The narrative was that in the height of his success when his mates were all about town dropping babies left, right and center, he was not distracted but was settling down like the responsible guy he is...which in this climes for some reason getting married is the epitome of being responsible.

This move saved the endorsements, made more money and got act to perform for one of the most iconic human beings in the world, the only Nigerian in that line-up amongst the world's best.

Sometimes, it's not that some acts are not talented, buy you never hear of them because they just don't have PR. Promoting your work is not PR. The other day, i saw a blog post about Davido's DJ that he bought a N16mill watch. How true or false that is a different question, they are using wild stories to control their narrative cos at the end of the day, the story is about David, If his DJ can afford a N16m watch, what does that say about him.

I'm already setting up shop for a PR group in PH cos we need it, (Chinedu Amah has a shop as well) if not, we will keep scraping the minimum potential when we should be aiming at the maximum.
I'll leave you with a quote that rings true specially in today's age of social media.

"There is no longer any such thing as fiction or nonfiction; there's only narrative". E. L. Doctorow
What is your narrative?"

Peace Ibiyeomie gift more than a thousand widows [Photos]

Pastor Mrs. Peace Ibiyeomie has taken steps to bring the widows close to nurture them with the undiluted word of God and also meet their material needs so they don't feel left out in the society.

Peace Ibiyeomie gift more than a thousand widows

She designed the widows forum to provide spiritual and emotional support, practical resources, encouragement, and fellowship for the widows from different denominations within and outside River State in a variety of ways. It is to help them flourish in the midst of difficult circumstances and loss.

Once in a month, Pastor Peace Ibiyeomie gathers the widows so they can pray for the wellbeing of their children and are also fed with God's word.

She meets so many of their physical needs like providing food, clothing, capital to start a small scale business, fees for the children and medical bills for those that are sick. It is a time that the widows look forward to every month as they know they will go home smiling.
God bless Pastor Mrs Peace Ibiyeomie for all these wonderful works.

#HOTRService: 4 qualities to possess to move you to your leadership

The truth is that we have all been called to leadership and to make disciples of all men. The unique mental attitude is the differentiator between leaders and followers. Realizing whom you are and mentally working with it, makes a difference. When you realize who you are and who your father is, it changes your perspective, your attitude and how you act, knowing that your father has clout and has a great name.

#HOTRService: 4 qualities to possess to move you to your leadership

Certain qualities to possess to move you to your leadership place include:

1. Passion: which is a deep desire and drive for something. It keeps you awake and is the thing that makes you push and continue. It is the passion that makes you prepare yourself for where you are going to, even when you are not there yet. You should have as content what the container looks like. Passion can relate to cravings or having a sense of an obligation to carry on and do what has to be done.

2. Initiative: which is the inertia that allows you to start. It is the drive that gets you to have the zeal to start. It is the catalyst that gets you to take action, as a function of self-motivation

3:  Priorities: and understanding of what comes first and what is more important. As every activity consumes time, but what is most important and what takes precedence is key to leadership. Understanding the difference between opportunity and time wasting activities is a hallmark of leaders.

  4. Goal Setting: which gives clarity to the plan and helps to follow through the plan to the most suitable conclusion. When you set goals and outline them right, you are able to hit the objective. To get the followers to buy into the idea, setting clear goals, with a plan to execution, makes it easier.
